Well located, decent price for the area, and nice rooms in nice grounds with parking available

When looking for a centrally located affordable option in Monterey, this place seemed the best option. It was easy to find and pull off the main street into the underground parking, and we were able to get a space easily when checking in (parking on site was one of our 'must haves'). The hotel is quite large, but spread around the grounds a bit, so there are a few options when deciding where you want to be (street-facing or tucked back a bit). The check-in was easy, with a polite young girl on the desk, and we found our room easily. It's got that beautiful Spanish hacienda vibe, and the grounds were well kept with a fountain courtyard right outside our room.
Our room was large (a Premier Junior Suite) with a comfy living area, a little dining area, 2 lovely comfy beds and a little balcony overlooking one of the courtyards on site. It was clean and there was a fireplace that we didn't need to use, and the only thing that confused me at first was the lack of any AC. I know the central coastal/NorCal areas don't always need AC at some times in the year, but it was quite warm when we stayed (late September) and this felt like a bit lacking in a nice hotel like this. I called the desk and to their credit they arranged for a large fan to be brought up, which arrived quickly and did the job.
Location wise, it's perfect for walking to Fisherman's Wharf, and also to the surrounding downtown area, including Alvarado St where we found a good selection of places to eat and drink. Although if you have any major mobility issues, bear in mind it's a bit of a hill to get back up to Pacific St from Alvarado. All in all, I'd definitely stay here again when in Monterey, as was a pleasant experience.

We got stuck on the street room and next to the spa and couldn’t sleep well. request top floor on the app notes. We got another room booked by default when I changed from 2 nights to 1. Our sofa bedding was missing some pieces. There were no snacks onsite which was a bummer. Cute hotel but the above was a bummer.

The hotel location was perfect , close to the Fisherman's wharf , the room we booked was not what I expected thru hotels.com and not to mention that I shld have read the fine lines .A junior suite that only has one king size bed and a pullout sofa bed for a family of 3. It was spacious and clean but it was close to the road and so it was pretty loud .
The hotel staff Cesar was very helpful and he gave us a better room location with a small view of the wharf as a bonus.

The property was very nice and close to everything. The hot tubs were amazing after all the walking and hiking.

The room was dirty, blinds were broken, patio was disgustingly dirty, the lights in the bathroom were missing the trim so it looked cheap and shabby, the carpet was tattered and separated from the hardwood floor with the padding underneath showing. The hardwood floor was scratched up like someone had carved on it, the ceiling fan was weak and made a ticking noise all night. And the hot tub didn't work.
