Extremely disappointing experience - host did not honor refund promise and completely ignored us
We reserved and paid in advance for one night's accommodation on 25.06, a superior double room with terrace and private bathroom.
We arrived at the accommodation late in the evening on 25.06 and to our surprise, we were accommodated in a shared apartment with a very small bedroom and a bathroom in the hallway next to a kitchen, while other guests were staying already upstairs in the same apartment. Being late and having the plane the next morning, we wanted to rest, have peace and have our own bathroom, but the other guests were setting their table and were thinking of staying for a long time in the living room, wall to wall with our bedroom, the bathroom being in the hallway, having no privacy at all. We expressed our displeasure to the host, who replied nonchalantly that she had no other possibility to accommodate us and if we found another accommodation, she verbally assured us repeatedly that he would refund the amount paid, she would contact booking the next morning and she will refund us. Relaying on this promise, we paid for one night's accommodation at another hotel. Unfortunately the hosts promise turned out to be a lie.
Despite assuring us many times that we would receive a refund, the host failed to follow through on their promise. We made multiple attempts to resolve the issue, but the host either ignored our messages or calls, she simply refused to answer the phone.
This lack of integrity and professionalism is unacceptable. I would not recommend staying at this property unless you are prepared to deal with potential issues like this. Trust is essential when booking accommodations, and unfortunately, this host did not meet that standard.

A weighing experience
I made a reservation on May 30 with a request that they did not deign to answer even today.
Unfortunately, the night of June 24, 12 days after booking, I am informed that an event, which is the only reason I would travel to Menorca, has been moved to the following week.
I call them first thing to explain the situation, and a man refers me to a woman. This one refers to Booking and there I leave pending a cancellation request that is not reviewed for one day.
The next day, I call again to try to have Booking’s request reviewed, and I am answered by a lady, who says she will forward the message to the woman with whom I spoke and who calls me at 21:36.
I try to explain everything that happened, while basically waiting for him to finish speaking to give a refusal, without engaging in any dialogue, on the grounds that they are a family business and nothing else.
That is, any hotel, in the worst case, gives you 10 days to cancel, and then you can apply for a partial refund, without taking into account that others, like the one I had taken for the next day, let you cancel 48 hours before.
And this one, being Minorca in high season, with a very high demand and with the competition and the hotel itself complete, having contacted 11 days before, and being an extreme case, prefers not to take a practically non-existent risk, and fuck the customer.
To all this, 10€ is the difference in the booking that would have prevented all this. €10 that I would have paid if it wasn’t for changing the date of an event is something I didn’t even think about.
It's to show up, drop a red note and record how the weighers crouch.
And not only that, I have had to contact Booking several times, wasting HOURS, because again they do not answer anything, not even those of Booking, that until they have had to call them personally. And that thing that the woman told me that "they take everything from Booking" is amazing.
I'm almost so angry with the time I've wasted dealing with this, that the 200€ FUMED out of my account, that someone else could perfectly enjoy being in the middle of nowhere.
This kind of deal only happens when there is so much demand on a site, that the service can be ZERO, and people will keep going, like tourist traps. And that's been the case here.
