Incredible Hosts, Amazing Breakfast, & the Perfect Location

Casona El Resguardo is a hidden gem! After a booking mistake where I accidentally reserved for July instead of June, I arrived after sunset on a winter evening. Agustín was incredibly gracious; he immediately worked it out with Expedia so I could pay him directly at a reduced rate, and even recommended a great dinner spot down the hill in Los Andes since I missed the on-site dining.
The next morning featured an amazing homemade breakfast with fresh bread and yogurt. It’s clear the hosts take massive pride in their family tradition of hospitality, as the entire property is beautifully maintained and full of charm.
Right before checkout, Agustín provided some invaluable local know-how that perfectly optimized my itinerary. I was nervous about driving up to Portillo without snow chains due to strict warnings online about police checkpoints, but he assured me I'd be fine—and he was spot on. Thanks to his guidance, I confidently made the drive up the mountain and enjoyed an unforgettable lunch at Hotel Portillo overlooking the stunning Laguna del Inca. It really is the perfect base for your mountain adventures!

Historical, unique home with gracious host

Agustín is a gracious host and we enjoyed the delicious homemade breakfast each morning including homemade yogurt, break an jam and eggs. The house is very historical and we enjoyed all the interesting antiques!

Lovely stay in this BnB style hotel. The food was the best part! Excellent chef that makes a special meal nightly considering all dietary restrictions. Location close enough to Portillo Ski resort to drive for daily skiing. Highly recommend.

Charming hotel

Hotel is very charming. The room is comfortable, the house is super charming, with a lot of history. The service is excellent, we were treated very well. The food is sensational, very worth dinner in the hotel restaurant. It is a great option for those who go to Portillo and do not want to stay at the resort.

Fantastic hotel! Everyone very attentive and made us feel special. The evening meal was exquisite! Highly recommend staying here. Just a bit pricey for us as we’re world travelers on bicycles. However it was a truly magical place to stay and we enjoyed every minute.
