Very happy with our stay at Hotel Gault.

We were delighted with your stay at Hotel Gault. The location is terrific, in Old Montreal but away from touristy areas, and the staff was very accommodating.

Dated, Tired and oblivious. OK, here’s my review.

According to my husband, Hotel Gault was one of the last hotel rooms available for his bank points in Montreal‘s old town. Though the renovation in an old office building might have been trendy at one time now it is just tired. The mattress and linens were comfortable but the oversized footprint of the bed with a gray 6 inch wide frame border against a gray carpet made a toe- stubbing hazard every time we moved around. The photo in the elevator, which should’ve been welcoming and otherwise emotionally neutral, might have been trying to be artsy, but I just read it as repugnant and repulsive: gritty black-and-white image of a woman smoking in a room with a plate of spoiled food in the background. It dragged me down every time I had to ride the only elevator available. A perpetual annoyance was the lack of adequate outlets for charging our cell phones. It has been standard for decades. Now that you can charge your phone at your bedside table. Not in this room. None of the outlets in the room allow us to have our phones plugged in in proximity to the bed. The desk staff told us that the outlet behind the headboard and concealed by the room dividing curtain was the expected solution. But it was difficult to find, awkward to plug into; there was only one available outlet that did not reach to my side of the bed. As we checked out today and complained again about the sorry state of charging amenities, we were told that when the hotel finished renovating the building next-door, it would be resolved. If I own the property, I could resolve it in 24 hours with a couple of extra outlets, extension cords and bedside charging hubs. The management is out of touch with Customer convenience.
The handwashing sink had faucet that leak leaked from the mixer, slow drip or fast drip, depending upon the position of the handle. The leak has been so persistent and so ignored for so long that the adjacent stand (designed to hold the hand towels, washcloths and drinking glasses) had a delaminated warped plywood second shelf. Coffee station was well supplied for coffee drinkers. There were teabags, but the mugs were hidden in another cupboard at the other end of the room. Though there was a fridge there was no provision for coffee creamer, or whitener of any time. Yes the staff was happy to provide it when I came down and asked, and why didn’t I tell them to check in that I would want it anticipating that they wouldn’t have thought to provide it.
There is no easy access to enter the hotel with your luggage, and the doors were quite heavy. Were any older or thriller I would be unable to operate them without help. They may well fix many of these problems with the renovation and expansion, but I am unlikely to return to check on them.

Lovely property in a super location. Corner room was large and well appointed. All good but don’t expect a lively or stocked bar/restaurant.

Theft while in a hotel room.

Stay at the Hotel Le Gaux in Montreal and lack consideration from the party.
Establishment
I arrived at the hotel on August 12. At 10 p.m., the hotel staff was registered.
I entered the room for room service. Then I took a bath and recorded myself.
I repeated that the terrace door was properly locked several times. I woke up at 4 a.m.
Between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m., there was a break-in in my room while I was there.
I'm sleeping.
As I was getting ready for the morning, I noticed that a clock and five pieces of jewelry had been stolen from my desk.
I immediately contacted the reception. The hotel adopted a deplorable attitude and refused en masse.
The involvement of the staff ("impossible") also showed no empathy or empathy.
willingness to cooperate.
The police were called, but they did not wait until after 2:30 in the morning and did not lead the way.
I conducted a serious investigation on the spot. Faced with this incompetence, I went there myself.
Another police station submits complaints and official reports.
The following day, the Police Ethics Commissioner (file number: 21-260813-061)
Two investigators went to the hotel, interviewed the staff, inspected the rooms and...
Please check security cameras. However, it turns out there are no cameras.
Monitoring outside the corridors and terraces on the floor was not allowed.
They did not collect any conclusive testimony and the investigation was closed.
The thought that someone might have interfered with my room while I was sleeping scares me.
The anxiety within the system and the utter disregard for hotels made me feel this way.
They were deeply traumatized and ruined my stay in Montreal. In view of this report, I would be grateful if you would take steps to address this.
It is taken to prevent such safety defects from recurring.
Please, ma'am, accept my special greetings.

Dear guest, We understand that the loss of personal belongings, particularly those with sentimental value, can be deeply upsetting.
Please note that our hotel follows recognized hospitality and security standards. Each guest room is equipped with a secure in-room safe for the storage of valuables, and guests are encouraged to use it throughout their stay.
Upon being informed of the incident, our team acted promptly and fully cooperated with the police investigation, providing all available information, staff interviews, and relevant security footage. Following their review, the police determined that there was insufficient evidence to pursue the matter further and subsequently closed the case.
While we understand your disappointment with this outcome, the conclusion of the investigation was reached by the authorities based on the evidence available to them.
We sincerely regret that this incident impacted your experience in Montreal and hope that, despite this unfortunate event, you were able to appreciate the kindness and assistance offered by those who supported you during your stay.
Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns. We appreciate your feedback and wish you all the best moving forward.
