Location A very nice option for those who like to be on the move! Hotel «Armalong Winery Chalets» is located in Grindelwald. This hotel is located 1 km from the city center. You can take a walk and explore the neighbourhood area of the hotel. Places nearby: Bradys Lookout State Reserve.At the hotel It’s time to have a nice meal! Stop by the restaurant. Specially for tourists who travel by car, there’s a parking zone. Guests who love doing sports will be able to enjoy a mini-golf area. You will find these entertainment amenities on the premises: a barbeque area. There are other services available for the guests of the hotel. For example, a laundry, dry cleaning and ironing.Room amenities The room is warmly decorated and has everything you need to have a rest after a long eventful day. There is a DVD player, a shower, a TV and a bathrobe. Please note that the listed services may not be available in all the rooms.

Great place to stay!

Amazing home away from home!
After travelling and staying in apartment hotels, arriving to our chalet to find everything and more that we needed along with spectacular views was lovely.
Checkin instructions were emailed through and a seamless (contactless) process.
The apartment was well appointed with homely furnishings, spotlessly clean and well stocked.
Luxuriously comfortable soft bed (with electric blanket!)
An easy 15-20min drive into Launceston city via the highway it was a great base for our visit.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay in apartment #10 and will absolutely be booking again if travelling through Launceston.

Great location on the Tamar River

Such a lovely setting, quiet and peaceful. Units are well appointed and comfortable.
While units are conjoined you wouldn’t know it as there is no sound coming from the next unit and each unit has been designed to have a private balcony.
Will definitely be staying again.

Chill-out weekend in a ‘room with a view’, with wonderful food and wine nearby.

The ‘chalets’ are a bit of a misnomer - they are very large modern studio apartments, two apartments per building, perched high above the Tamar Ridge vineyard. Fully equipped, with kitchen appliances and utensils, lounge chairs, large king bed, bathroom with large soaking tub and separate shower, and balcony with table, chairs and a chaise. It’s a place to chill out and wind down. Imbibe from your favourite tipple on the balcony and watch the late summer sunset. Groceries are available a few kms away at the supermarket in Legana; we stayed Saturday and Sunday evenings and enjoyed a wonderful Sunday lunch at the nearby (4 km) Evenfall restaurant.
There is no signage to the chalets - the word Armalong doesn’t appear anywhere. We were glad to have arrived during daylight hours and in no hurry to check-in. The chalets are part of the Tamar Ridge Winery - just follow the signage to the winery off Waldhorn Drive, which is off the West Tamar Highway. The chalets are individually owned, so you may see them advertised by different names on various accommodation sites - Armalong Chalets, Tamar Ridge Apartments, Tamar River Apartments. It seems to me as though they are all the same apartments/chalets. Quite confusing.
The less than 5 minute walk to the Tamar Ridge winery Tasting Room, with its stunning view of the Tamar estuary, is well worth the time. Perfect for an hour or so on a Sunday afternoon.

Poor communication

Had a booking reservation. Helen states the key was under the matt, which was not the case. We had to find emergency accommodation elsewhere for the night. Helen did not answer phone calls or reply to text messages. Save yourself the disappointment and do not book here.

Very comfortable with lovely views

We stayed 3 nights while my husband had some meetings in Launceston. This sunny and warm little unit was a great place for me to relax whilst he was working as I recover from an illness. We were in unit 10 and the furnishings and bed were very comfortable and extremely clean. The unit looks out of a lovely view of the river and the afternoon sun made the room naturally cozy. There is traffic noise but for me personally I didn't mind this at all as it is distant - not past your front door type traffic and in a way I find this comforting when combined with the view. We did find out this is one of 2 roads into Launceston so you would expect some traffic. The only weird thing that happened was I was visited by someone checking the units who noticed our heat lamps were on in the bathroom (yes I did have them on whilst having a bath) the bath has a lovely view over the river. She knocked on the door and asked me to make sure we turned the heat lamps off when not in the bathroom as the heat lamps burn out. I felt like I was being chastised and was quite uncomfortable as she had quite an aggressive manner. After years of travelling for pleasure and business I have never experienced something like this. Perhaps there have been issues in the past but the sins of previous guests should never be the responsibility of current guests and to my knowledge having a bath in the middle of the day with the heat lamps on is not an offence! Feedback is always an opportunity to reflect and consider approaches. Apart from this small incident, these units are excellent value for money in a lovely location.
