Lovely traditional German hotel

My family stayed here for 4 nights. The hotel is charming, clean and conveniently located near the airport. While it is close to the airport, it is quiet and I never heard planes. The rooms are spacious and bright. Like most hotels in Germany, the beds are really single beds that can often be slid together for couples. The welcome desk is convenient and there always seemed to be someone there. Breakfast is not included, but the 12 euro per person was very reasonable compared with prices we encountered in other places. The breakfast includes most of what you expect in a German hotel, but there was also freshly scrambled eggs, sausages and bacon. The common areas are warm and comfortable, The hotel also has a lovely interior garden courtyard.

Highly recommended for discerning peace seekers!

After the hustle and bustle in the city of Cologne a wonderful oasis of peace!
We were warmly welcomed and had a wonderfully large, well-equipped room with wonderful peace and greenery.
Breakfast was excellent and we were asked for personal requests. The well-kept and lovingly designed garden including koiteich was the highlight of our stay. If it takes us back to Cologne, then 100% back to the Hotel Spiegel!!!! Thomas and Astrid from Traunstein

Delightful

I don't fail to stop in this hotel which, in addition to being less than 2 km from the airport, is also a place of welcome and relaxation. We took great care in the details of the furnishings, with a high quality breakfast and two attentive and very kind managers. Price that can't be lower

Friends weekend away

The hotel was lovely, very well appointed and the gardens were spectacular. However, it was advertised as a hotel, restaurant but when we arrived, I asked what time service start in the restaurant to be told there was no service at the weekend. This was only Thursday but the restaurant was closed. We were 12.5 km outside of Cologne so our options were very limited. Luckily there were two restaurants about 10 mins walk from the hotel which were quite nice. The staff member who greeted us on our arrival, an older lady, was there every morning and every evening while we were there. She didn't seem to have any time off at all for the 3 nights we were there. While she was efficient at her job, she was not overly friendly or helpful. There were two other members of staff for the breakfast serving but again, these male waiters were efficient but not friendly towards us. They all engaged much more with the German guests but didn't seem interested in tourists. Tbh,we all felt as we were just a nuisance and they didn't really want us there. The hotel was expensive and the price didn't include breakfast. It is a lovely hotel but we definitely wouldn't stay there again. They have a lot to learn about hospitality. There were 5 in our group and we are very widely travelled but this is the first time any of us have experienced this kind of indifference and almost rude attitude. Sorry to say, we very very disappointed.

Single room for a family

What do you want of a Hotel? I like a bed a decent one. We booked one night here for two adults and a infant and got a single room with a normal bed and an improvised bed. As we arrived at 2 a clock we were just to tired to complain. The sink also didn't really drain and had lots of disgusting particles. When we complained the next morning we got 10 euro's back.
