Hotel m a r a v i l h o s o, I was very surprised!

Hotel m a r a v i l h o s o: super well located, at the door of Saint Jean (one of the entrances of Old Quebec), close to bars and restaurants, souveniers shops. Restaurant Il Teatro, at the entrance of the hotel, has delicious soups, great wines and snacks. The staff at the El Capitole Hotel were super attentive, both at the reception, as well as at the bar and maids. And had a very cool surprise when we got in the room, but I will not give spoliter.

Honeymoon

We stayed here for our honeymoon. The location is prime in old Quebec. The staff were exceptional and accommodating, very eager to make sure we had a wonderful stay. The restaurant is Italian, we tried it on our last day but wish we tried it sooner, the food was excellent. There is a beautiful view of the city on the ninth floor from the pool. The bed was very comfortable. We were easily able to explore old Quebec and St Roch by foot. Above all, again the staff were so helpful. Thank you so much for hosting our first trip together, we will never forget it!

The front desk receptionist was extremely unhelpful. Rather than trying to resolve the issue, she appeared to create unnecessary obstacles and made the experience far more difficult than it needed to be.

Subpar Service

Upon arriving I was given an accessible room. I asked to be moved to a regular room because I find the bathrooms in those rooms to be difficult for me to navigate. I was staying for several nights and wanted to be comfortable. I was informed that all the other rooms were taken that evening so I inquired if they could move me the following day. At that point, I was told by the gentleman at the front desk that he could move me to a suite for the night but would charge me a significant extra fee for the one night. It was almost midnight so they clearly weren't going to sell that suite - in my experience, true 5 star hotels move you for the one night at no extra cost and then find different accommodations for the remaining nights because that's what good service looks like. When I declined to pay the up charge, the gentleman then said I should stop back by the front desk the following day and "maybe" they could help. Again, a hotel that understands good service would have made a note to see if they could accommodate my request to move the next day and gotten in contact with me instead of telling me to stop by the front desk and maybe someone would help....
I fully understand that sometimes hotels can't accommodate requests to move rooms if they are full but I do expect better service than this. Very disappointing.

Although we were unfortunately unable to identify your reservation, we would like to clarify that accessible rooms are a specific room category and are clearly identified on all of our booking platforms. Based on the information available to us, this appears to have been the room type that was reserved.
When a guest wishes to move to a different room category, such as a suite, the applicable rate difference generally applies, as this constitutes an upgrade rather than a room change. We regret if this was not explained clearly or if it gave the impression that we were unwilling to assist.
Our overnight team normally provides a detailed handover of guest requests so that our daytime team can proactively follow up whenever possible. We sincerely apologize that this process does not appear to have been followed in your case. Had we been made aware of your request, we would have been pleased to review availability the following day and explore alternative accommodations within the hotel.
We understand that clear communication and attentive follow-up are essential, and we regret that your experience fell short of your expectations.
