YHA Blaxhall is situated on the edge of Suffolk Sandlings, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and home to Britain’s rarest wildlife. Free private parking is on offer, as well as a garden with BBQ facilities, and a self-catering kitchen. The National Cycle Route 1 passes close to the hostel and uses quiet lanes. Easy walking routes can be recommended by the hostel. Watersports can be enjoyed on the River Blyth estuary which is a 25-minute drive. Ipswich and the coastal town of Adleburgh are both within a 30-minute drive, as well as the Anglo Saxon heritage site of Sutton Hoo. Guests are required to show a photo identification and credit card upon check-in. Please note that all Special Requests are subject to availability and additional charges may apply. In response to Coronavirus (COVID-19), additional safety and sanitation measures are in effect at this property. Food & beverage services at this property may be limited or unavailable due to Coronavirus (COVID-19). A Good (Old School) Hostel

A simple but pleasant Youth Hostel in the lovely Suffolk Countryside. When we stayed it was self catering only but during Late July and August it offers a breakfast service.
The rooms are basic but the beds were comfortable (if a little bit low off the floor) Showers were fine but I couldn't find any height adjustment of the shower head.
The Lounge has plenty of seating and a TV along with a WiFi connection. You can also relax outside at one of the picnic benches in the garden or in a small seating area near the main entrance.
Access to the hostel during the evening is via a 5 digit code and private rooms have door locks.
The self catering kitchen was well set up with 2 fridges and plenty of cutlery and plates, mugs etc.
Janet (Volunteer Warden) was very helpful and friendly during our stay and advised us that the local Pub was playing Live Music that evening which we all attended - Thanks Janet
There is a bus shelter over the road from the hostel which allows you to borrow/swap books - nice little facility offered by the village.
Plenty of available parking at the hostel and a generally relaxing vibe to be had at this lovely countryside location.
Overall a Very Good Simple Hostel ideally suited to Walkers, Cyclists and people who just want to enjoy a relaxing pace of life (if only for a day or two)

great location for Suffolk walks and seaside

Great trip in private room over bank holiday weekend. Good value for money. Very friendly and helpful volunteer, Maggie; excellent location (if you have a car), close to Snape Maltings, Aldeburgh, Orford; clean facilities including well equipped self catering kitchen (with cafetieres), lounge and seating areas inside and out; the local pub is 5 mins walk away; we had good chats with other guests, great walks in a beautiful part of the world. Thank you YHA,

Comfortable rooms along with top quality service

Came here for with my local walking group for a long weekend away. The rooms and beds were very comfortable and the staff were really helpful and would highly recommend this to family and friends :-)

Fabulous yh, small & perfectly formed.

Stayed here for one night with a group of friends - all women of a certain age - and it was great. We were welcomed by a lovely member of staff, given 2 x 6 bed rooms, right opposite the showers and a toilet. Rooms were clean and the bedding was really nice. We were recommended a place for dinner, which was great, and settled into the lovely lounge when we returned to play our customary games. Use the kitchen for tea making the next morning which was also nice and clean. It was our second visit to Blaxhall, and we'll definitely be back! Thank you. X

Hidden Gem

Well worth the trip. Brilliant, kind and helpful staff. Fantastic little hostel.
Right on the national cycle network route 41. Plenty to do and plenty to not do if you need it! Great chance to disengage.
