Isar lodgings 2km off Camino

Hotel La Consulta de Isar is a small establishments about 1-2 km off the Camino Santiago, walkable, but our host picked us up and returned us to the Camino. Clean rooms, updated, with a cafe / bar downstairs of eight seats. The local churches are Romanesque and the village was so quiet I had to think when the last car noise was. Dinner was delicious and tasted local. The accommodation exceeded expectations.

Awful - dont believe the reviews!!!!

Our stay here got off to a rough start and it didnt improve. We had an arranged pick up nearby as this is not on the Camino way. Even before getting in the car were were told “rapids rapido!” - Hardly a nice welcome.We then arrived at the accommodation and got out of the car and went inside to be told, no entry until 1pm. It was 12.58!!! We were literally two minutes early and were sent outside to wait. Then at 1pm, invited inside!!!! The place is the middle of nowhere! There is nowhere to buy anything, so you have to eat there………we didnt. Due to the appalling welcome we would rather starve than give this man our money.
Anyway, we were showed to our room. That was another surprise - possibly one of the worse rooms I have “ever” stayed in. Nothing good about it. SO I looked online and it was nothing like the photos! We asked to be moved, and surprise surprise there were other rooms so we moved. The new room was much better. The room we were initially offered remained unused for the night.
breakfast - without going into detail, not great. No selection other than bread with cheese and ham. We had to ask for coffee (that is other guests as well).
When it came time to be taken back to the Camino way I heard the car start up outside my window and ran to “remind” them that we needed to go too! More grumpy grumpy attitude. Glad to get away from the place!!!!

A surprisingly pleasant experience

On arrival we were greeted by a very friendly host + shown to a corner room. It was spacious with a very comfy bed. The bathroom was a bit basic as no shower screen or curtain. However there was hot water for showers.
Our host went out of his way to provide us with an evening meal that was truly special + he could not have done more.
Breakfast was as ordered,basic but sufficient for our needs.
Our only criticism would be that the room could be a little warmer but that could be the time of year.
The hosts were very amenable to our basic Spanish language.
Truly an authentic Spanish experience.

Lovely Small Hotel Along the Camino Frances

I stayed here while doing the Camino Frances in August 2022. It is a lovely small hotel located in the quaint town of Isar. I elected to walk from Hornillos to Isar, and the walk along the country roads was worthwhile. The meals were delicious and the staff were very friendly

One room has balcony

Stayed whilst walking the Camino. The hotel is fairly small with only five rooms, but one has a large balcony with great views.
The shower is over the bath, but doesn’t have a shower curtain.
We ate in the hotel, the Pilgrim’s menu which was good, especially the tuna soup to start.
