Well worth a Visit

A reasonable priced hotel. We were given a large room with a veranda which had lovely views. It was clean, comfortable and serviceable. Staff friendly and helpful. The hotel offers the use of a swimming pool at no extra cost which was a lovely relax after a long drive. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed for the evening meal but we were guided to a bar which within a 5 minute walk which provided us with adequate refreshment. The breakfast was good. If visiting the area a good place to stay.

BAD BREAKFAST

Liechtenstain is very expensive state, and the cost for a b&b isn't cheap. After having spent 100€ I would have expected a nice breakfast, but we found that in the picture.
Apart for that, the accomodation is ok.

Definitely the most glittering crown on the Alps

Very charming guesthouse with all necessary facilities to have an enjoyable stay. Do not expect the great luxury of certain other Alpine resorts, but an accomadation with very great worth for your money. Having a swimming pool next to one's room definitely is an asset - especially when they have aqua gym with Tiroler music!
Perhaps one tip: take some drinks with you upon arrival, since you might find an empty fridge in your room and shops are rather scarce in the neighbourhood.

Out of the Way but Worth It

Finding this delightful bed and breakfast can be a little difficult if you're using public transport but it is well worth the effort. The local residents we met seemed surprised to see tourists in the 'shoulder' season and, to be honest, we had made our selection on price thinking that Liechtenstein was a small place anyway. However, we enjoyed the place that much we extended our stay from one to four days.
The hotel/guesthouse is located in a small village near the border with Austria. You need to take three buses from the Buchs train station in Switzerland. It's not as hard as it sounds. The train station info office will let you know which buses to take and the drivers are very helpful. The bus routes are designed to interconnect well and the drivers wait for the connecting bus before departure. The trip took less than 30 minutes.
Once found, the owner is very welcoming and the hotel is charming and clean. Our room was very spacious and included a balcony offering stunning views of the Alps. The room was well furnished and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast did not have too many options but it was adequate. Being the only guests, we could understand why there was not a large selection.
Being a small village there is not much to do except wander along the many well-marked hiking trails and admire the outstanding views. Or you could take advantage of the lovely heated indoor swimming pool. There is a local restaurant offering good meals within a few minutes walk but the next closest restaurant is a brisk 20 minute walk away.
Otherwise, the buses run about every half hour and, as noted earlier, they offer good connections making travel throughout Liechtenstein very easy.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The Krone is highly recommended to anyone who is looking for something that's a little off the beaten track.

Gorgeous little guesthouse

Schellenberg is not a big place but this is deserving of #1.
The guesthouse is very comfortable with access to a beautiful heated pool, a view out over Liechtenstein from your balcony and very comfortable rooms/beds.
Breakfast in the morning was good quality and varied and we were well looked after by the staff. For Liechtenstein this is outstandingly good value, though make sure you have access to a car.
