Impeccable scenery, excellent service, heartwarming food and a private onsen, this hotel offers it all. Would definitely revisit.

Lovely accommodation right in front of Lake chuzenji. Tried the private Onsen with a great view of the river. Meals were delicious and way beyond expectations, particularly the steak and rainbow trout for dinner. The staff were amazingly helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay here again if we were to come back to Nikko.

Charming and quaint family run pension

Stayed here for 2 nights , its a family run pension style guesthouse with only 8/9 rooms total. Very charming in a old school and rustic way, some of the quirks include the extremely tiny ensuite bathroom and shower peculiar to older Japanese hotels in the 80s (because of these it might be easier and more comfortable to bathe in the onsen areas in the hotel). Dont expect many frills and /or modern amenities but for what you pay we were very happy staying here.
Dinner included in the half board option is excellent and highlight local specialties. For dinner please note that they rotate between 3 different fixed course menus every day, so you will not eat the same meal unless you stay more than 3 days. I think all the rooms have direct views of Lake Chuzenji. Gender separated onsen area is pretty small, but for couples, there is a small private onsen which can be used for a 1 hour slot as long as theres no one inside (no reservations possible).
What is really outstanding is the level of service the moment you step in all the way until you leave. Despite not speaking any Japanese , we were attended to by great warmth and sincerity throughout our stay by everyone from the reception and meal areas. The property was completely full on both nights we were there with local guests and they are definitely on to something.

Not only popular among locals, but also very good!

2 common and a prove onsen, all real. beautiful views from the rooms with windows that open with mosquito nets to repel mosquitoes. Super cozy restaurant and breakfast, with both Japanese and Western breakfast menu. The kitchen is exceptionally good and the staff is super helpful!
The food itself is vegetarian-friendly if you indicate so!
Highly recommended for everyone, family or friends!

Cozy little hotel right by Lake Chuzenji - all rooms face the lake so the view is stunning. The dinner was absolutely divine- we loved the trout with orange sauce and the steak. The private onsen was great as well. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here!
