An unforgettable stay

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Arctic for three nights in June as part of my 40th birthday trip to Greenland. We had a wonderful stay at this hotel — two nights in a superior room and one in an aurora cabin.
The superior room was spacious, but was very warm although the bed was so comfortable we slept really well despite the temperature. The aurora cabin was a fun experience — falling asleep to the sound of wind and waking up to icebergs was incredible. There was a mini fridge that had some chocolate bars, drinks and sandwiches, and a shower room with nice products. The privacy curtain was around the lower part of the cabin, so during the midnight sun time I’d recommend taking an eye mask if you’re a light sleeper.
We had dinner at the hotel twice, which was excellent, and breakfast here was also great. The staff were lovely and very helpful in answering questions and ordering us taxis.
The walk into town was around half an hour on some roads without pavements, and we noticed people were driving pretty fast here so we just got taxis everywhere. The system for this is fantastic — you order a car, the staff tells you what number taxi to look for and it turns up less than five minutes later. All the taxis took card payment and it was about £8 into central Ilulissat each time. A really wonderful stay.

Review Restaurant Grenlandic buffet only

Lots of improvement possible. We arrived at 8 pm and no one informed us before or shortly before end that buffet will close at 9 pm. Suddenly they cleaned up everything and the food was gone. Service on a very basic level. No one cares or asks if everything is alright or if you enjoyed the visit. Food was good but cold. The meat was grilled and presented on a plate but without heating. Presentation of food was not very charming. We missed a good restaurant manager and can imagine this also applies to the hotel. We can not recommend the Restaurant.

Trucks customer service

After staying as a guest for a week, I booked an extra night, which was a more costly room. Checkout is 10:00 am. They were unwilling to let me change into the new room as soon as available and required my to sit in the lobby until check-in time at 3:00. Total unnecessary and insensitive to a continuing guest. I highly recommend finding another accommodation in Ilulissat of you plan to visit. Very rude staff. No manager available on the weekend. An exasperating experience to say the least.

Outstanding hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had one of the aurora cabins. The views were amazing. The front desk staff was very helpful. The Loop gym was incredible, the machines were in good condition and incredibly excellent. The food was outstanding. The breakfast buffet was huge and all excellent. Martin our sommelier took good care of us at dinner. All and all an outstanding hotel, highly recommended.

stunning views; service without a smile

The views from this hotel were spectacular - if you had a nice room with a good view. If not, then there's nothing much to recommend this hotel. There was a sense of customer management rather than customer care. Most of the reception staff seemsed to be Danes with the managers seeming to be somewhere off site available by phone call. Most of the cleaning staff seemed to be Greenlanders and looked depressed. I'm not sure how well they were paid. There were two wodnerful exceptions: Axel on recption and Ulla, one of the cleaners - both lovely, warm and very helpful. The restaurant was OK although their approach was again to see guests as opportunities for income generation. The hotel would have benefited from having a sauna/spa as it was supposedly 4 star. There was af requent and useful shuttle bus.
