Perfect, comfortable, clean, central, and great value.
Check in at 0400 (had prebooked) was not a problem and was greeted by a spotlessly clean and spacious double room. Shared bathrooms were well maintained. Centrally located, so it is a perfect base to explore the city.
Payment in cash in SOM/USD.
ATMs at Dushanbe airport are to the right as you exit customs. We paid S100 for the airport taxi, which sounded right for that time of night.

Grim. Outright lies and dishonesty throughout.
The sly dishonesty of this place made me cancel a later 5 night booking and depart exactly on check-out. There is nothing more uncomfortable than being a guest in a property operated by bad people, and here is why...
Firstly, I had a two night booking, but seperately, for a 6 bed and one for an 8 bed dorm (since one was booked-out online), though they're lying as actually there is no 8 bed...it's an 11 bed. First lie. I was offered the 6 bed for 2 nights which would have been $21 (the online price with the booking platform commission) (192 somoni), though I was told 200 somoni...so no change. However, since there are people living long-term in the 6 bed, I opted to change to the 8...I mean, 11 bed, for $18 (once again, the online price) which was 165 somoni, and of course, once again they short changed me by issuing 30 from a 200 bill. The sheets didn't fit the mattress and there is no mattress protector, though the room was totally fine and the bathrooms exceptionally clean. The WiFi did not work at all in room and was generally bad throughout the hostel, though there is a good sized kitchen and great views as the hostel is on the 17th floor of a new complex.
They wanted me to cancel my 2nd booking so as not to pay any commission, which would mean i'd lose my affiliate cashback, though initially I was fine with this, however, when I asked if I could put my rucksack somewhere after checkout until the evening before my airport departure they said it is $1 (10 somoni), which is pretty bad, but comically they then asked if I would still cancel the booking online...even though they charged me the online price which accounts for the extra 20% commission, which with such poor behaviour, I refused of course.
Nobody wants to stay in a place where you're intentionally short changed, lied too about the number of beds in the room on the booking and website, and charged for keeping a bag, and then requested to dishonestly cancel an online reservation so they can pocket more even though they would have charged the online price which is higher, for paying them cash-in-hand. The person exuded dishonesty and I've never been so happy to leave a place. The location is, however, exceptional.

The awful customer service at check out kills it
This place is ace for its location across the street from the OVIR office to get your permit and registration. Also much of the attractions like the museums are within walking distance - a mile or so. Plenty of restaurants around. Shared bathroom is ok- I’ve had cleaner and also have had worse. But the water pressure is fabulous.
Quiet place as well, and decent AC in the bedroom. WiFi is OK: good for photo uploads but it does drop and video calls are shaky and freeze.
I’m giving this place one star bc of the awful customer service at checkout and the hustle going on where someone affiliated with the hostel apparently is very reluctant to give you a letter to get the registration done and pretty much insists you go through her, adding an extra 50 somoni for her “services.” Thankfully I had the GBAO done on my own: costs 100 somoni and 15-20 minute wait. Super easy and you DON’T need her.
We had some WhatsApp back and forth yesterday on the registration as I wanted to do it on my own as well: she just needs to provide a letter!! Finally this AM I relented and left her passport and money (270 somoni) for her to take care of it. Said it would be back by noon.
She arrived at 12:18 but in the meantime, I was kicked out of my ACed room to sit in the hot, hot airless lobby with no fan. I protested to a woman sitting behind the desk and said it’s not her problem and shrugged, said the room needs to be cleaned. I was told I can go to the EVEN HOTTER kitchen (with no fan). No thanks!
Avoid this place. I have to return to Dushanbe after the 7 Lakes and Fann Mountains and will choose elsewhere. I’ve had recs from other travelers.
