Very pleasant stay and good value for money. The idea of a room with garden view was a bit misleading - a strip of grass with a building site beyond! The fans in the room could have done with a clean. But we had a comfortable stay and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Great and friendly check in and check out.
Rooms and public areas are very tired and could do with a good clean.
Breakfast, 3 staff chatting, no focus on customers, coffee machine stopped working twice, had to hunt down staff, wait for them to stop chatting, then the issue was resolved.

Afternoon grim tea

Afternoon Tea.....The setting for afternoon tea is in a hot room, full length windows that look out onto the garden. Two air condition units in this room, one completely not working the other was blowing out warm air. They seriously need to cool down their room and ensure that the units are working in this hot weather. Table was very sticky, chairs full of stains, units full of dust. The whole room needs a deep clean. The tea consisted on three finger strips, one fish, but i cant eat fish so it was pesto. Why would you put pesto in a sandwich, disgusting. The other was egg and the last ham and tomato. Cheap bread, slithers of ham and tom. Salmon that my husband had he could not distinguish it as fish. Scones were warm but as i cant eat cream i had none as i find them too dry. My husband did and he said they were ok. Very small scones, two small bites and gone. Cakes, so small not worth putting on the plate, no flavour to them either. Mousse had cream on the top so i could not eat. They had not taken into consideration that i could not eat the cream, although they had been prewarned. They gave me a tiny cut off from a flap jack, which didn't look like a flapjack and i did break off a tiny bit but it was pretty grim. The waitress was extremely helpfull trying her best to cover afternoon tea and the bar and sort out getting the air con working. Coffee had no taste, cup of tea you cant go wrong with. Overall i would not come back or buy this as a gift for anyone. Go somewhere else that knows how to do a decent afternoon tea.

Problem getting into the room as the electronic door lock broken. Room backed onto a building site which started work at 0730hrs with heavy equipment. No air con so room too hot as windows had to be closed due to noise and dust. Receptionist at check in a bit surly. Gave the impression that being unable to get in the room was my fault. Manager eventually came to let us in. Breakfast okay but nothing special. Bar staff okay. Not a great stay considering it was not cheap.

Poor and not worth the money!

Stayed there for a two night stay with a Virgin experience voucher recently.How this is rated at a 4star is beyond me.After 1 night we had to leave .The rooms were hot,dirty and the whole place looked tired and in desperate need of a overhaul.Breakfast was basic and not worth paying for.Everything needs upgrading so beware if you’re looking at staying there! .
