Outstanding food at Hamersay House

The menu and food are outstanding. popped in for dinner quite often over the last few months. The menu is varied and the quality and presentation of food outstanding.
I've enmjoyed scallops and Stornoway black pudding a few times in Uist on holiday - this is definitely the best and great value too. Can't recommend the restaurant highly enough - really great

Hospitality could be better.

Lovely hotel, food very good. Bedrooms well decorated and furnished.
The only negative was the hospitality. The England World Cup match was playing and our group were excited to watch. Unfortunately we were asked not to turn up the volume and just watch without sound. Despite our group being the only residents in the hotel and the average age around 60 yrs old. I’m still unsure as to the motive. It did taint our one night stay.

Good location but poor service

This hotel is well located and in reasonable condition. as with all Hebrides hotels it is expensive for what it is. The rooms are fine and the food is ok, although make sure you co-ordinate your shower with your neighbours as the scalding/ice temperature means they are basically unusable. Bit rubbish in modern hotel really. The rooms were incredibly hot too.
The real problem is that the owners only employ one staff member who does everything - reception, bar, serves the food etc so if you are waiting for the one thing she is not doing you will wait a while. The lady worked incredibly hard without complaint but we gave her the benefit of the doubt as she was so nice - meanwhile the hotel should take note that it's really not acceptable to ask guests to help out with their margin problem!

Tastefully refurbished hotel

Refurbished hotel in Lochmaddy with great food at breakfast and dinner. Bedroom was a good size and the staff were friendly.

Luxury on the edge of the bay!

Very nice hotel up the hill from the bay. Quite luxurious facilities which were welcome after a couple of nights camping! Around 25 mins from Berneray ferry so very convenient if you’re island hopping!
