We stayed here one night before a much loved Aunts Funeral
We from Lpool so it was a long drive up.
The Hotel was quiet, beautiful so clean and peaceful

Disappointing stay ☹️☹️
Nice room although abit small,clean enough.Bed comfortable.issues in the bathroom,everytime you used water it gurgled for a long time & the light in the shower kept flickering.our main problem was the TV didn't work & because no one on site had to do without it ( my argument is we payed for the service but didn't get it ) we told the housekeeper in the morning whilst having breakfast & basically she said oh dear the tvs are old & haven't been replaced for years !!! Having no reception & being greeted on arrival & no one on site is not very good,would not stay here again !

Lovely house, absent host.
A lovely room in this gorgeous house (though I wish I'd realised we were on the 3rd floor - the stairs were a struggle for my arthritic knees). The shower room was a little tight for space but the bedroom was very spacious. Breakfast was great and the housekeeper/cook was really lovely. However, I found the booking experience very odd - the gentleman who I think is the owner did not readily reply to my e-mail questions. We were told we would get a text message on arrival to tell us how to get in, and when that didn't arrive I telephoned. He did not answer but rang me back and seemed quite "put out" that I hadn't received a text. He sent it again and we gained access to the house by his instructions. I have never stayed in a B&B before at which we were not welcomed in person - it felt impersonal, which is why I have not rated higher.

Worst night sleep
Firstly the first contact after booking was to be told we hadn’t booked breakfast thou i thought it was included, but didn’t matter , then the morning of arrival I received a text message telling me what to do on arrival at the hotel (self check in) this is because no one was there I thought strange as it’s a hotel someone should be there at all times but it wasn’t a problem because we would be arriving late and didn’t want to put anyone out , when we arrived it was late , it states in text message to park in a parking spot but there wasnt one available to park so we made our own that was not obstructing anyone else in the small car park ,we enter as was told in the text message and all went smoothly, when we entered our (room 3) it all looked fine , but it then all went down from there the toilet had dried poo and all around the toilet seat (hinges) was dirty , the bed and pillows where to soft which meant we both didn’t sleep and was not feeling at all rested, we could hear a clock every hour, the shower head had orange mould and the kettle was horrible inside , no drinking water unless you got from the bathroom tap but after the poo in the toilet that you could blatantly see the last thing i wanted was to trust the taps where clean enough , and then early in the morning we could hear people walking above us and the traffic outside our room (people) when we left we thought we may see someone to tell them but no one was around and there is no instructions about the key so we left it on the small table where we got them from , we then had to do a 5 point turn to get out of the car park even though we reversed straight in a marked space , we had made plans for the day but we came straight home as we where both ached, I’m not someone who often writes reviews

Beautiful building top quality B&B
We really enjoyed our time at The Old Rectory. We stayed at the beginning and the end of our cycle ride on The Rebellion Way. Both our rooms were lovely and bright and beautifully appointed. Lovely comfy beds and big fluffy towels. Breakfast was freshly cooked and excellent. Kings Lynn was a great place to visit too! 5 Stars
