Great stay
Great stay at this hotel, beautiful room (free upgrade) lovely comfy bed.

Very disappointing stay
We were allocated room 41.The noise from the room above was persistent from late at night to well after 2am and restarting at 5 am . A group of people were playing music loudly,talking and laughing and frequently making thudding noises and there were loud squeaky sounds on the floor boards. There was no improvement after contacting reception twice. The next morning my wife spoke to the duty manager. We were moved rooms for our second night to what was described as a free upgrade and not in the basement (the latter being described as cheaper rooms).. It was acknowledged it was an old building going through refurbishment and the quality of the sound proofing was clearly a known issue .She was told that people are warned on the hotel’s website ( although not on Expedia’s, that noise may be an issue in these rooms). We subsequently checked the hotel’s website and found no mention of this . When we followed up our concerns in writing because of the terrible night we had , the response from the manager (which took a month to receive )suggested as it is an older property one should expect some noise .( having stayed in many older properties this is not the case ) We were offered a free upgrade if we ever stayed again . This is scant compensation for our ruined wedding anniversary stay . I can only suggest not to stay here if you want a good night’s sleep and if you want to receive good customer service when issues arise .

We are of course dismayed to learn that your concerns have not been addressed to your complete satisfaction. However, after thoroughly investigating the comments you made via email, I am afraid we could not, in all good conscience agree to the type of 'compensation' that you sought.
May I once again apologise for the tardiness of my response to your third email, a delay caused by my unavoidable and unplanned absence from the hotel. I hope my speedy response to your other emails demonstrated our traditional response time.

A CRACKING HOTEL
A cracking hotel, spacious and comfortable executive double room, air conditioning was perfect, a really good quality bar, good staff all round, particularly Scarlet on reception, who was most helpful and friendly.

Amazing Hotel!
When we arrived we were welcomed by Joyce on reception! She was lovely, very polite and welcoming! As it was our anniversary she told us that they have kindly upgraded our room free of charge, which was such a lovely touch! We also arrived into the room and had complimentary biscuits, tea and coffee and they had also given us some cake with a happy anniversary message which was incredible! The rooms are very lovely, would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Guildford!!

Mandolay stay
Very happy with the room and service at the Mandolay. I arrived early on the day and Scarlet and Sunita were very helpful with allowing me to check in before 3pm. Would highly recommend and kudos to the staff for being so warm and welcoming.
