Outlander, Kelpies & The Wheel
The Kelpies are only 15 minutes walk so ideal for an evening visit to see them illuminated, Fabulous!
All roads in Falkirk seem to be signposted to The Wheel. It's a fantastic piece on engineering but in reality nowadays it's just a tourist attraction with an underwhelming and expensive boat trip cum white (???) knuckle ride and a playpark.
The hotel itself is good. We had an 'executive' room in the original building. A good sized room with high ceilings and large windows, comfy bed and modernish bathroom. The wooden sash windows could do with a lick of paint and the three broken floor tiles in the bathroom should be replaced before somebody gets a cut on their foot!
Breakfast in Rosie's Tearoom was a bit disappointing. Not much choice other than standard Cooked Breakfast fayre.
We ate two nights in Cook's which was good both times. Excellent service and food. It's was busy though, so best to book a table here as there aren't may alternative options locally.

Charming hotel, wonderful staff
We were greeted by a lovely lady at the front desk and I have to say, the staff here as the nicest we have come across in any hotel recently (and definitely against the English ones!!). Breakfast staff were accommodating and nothing was too much trouble.
Room was spacious, clean bathroom. Towels were amazing and soft (not like the standard ones you get in a hotel). Tea/Coffee in room. Beds comfy and warm.
It was quiet on a night - my main bug bear in hotels. But we got a good sleep and well rested.
Free parking and easy to get to main motorways.
For those saying its out dated, old - yes it is but it adds character. Not every hotel needs to be shades of beige/grey and smelling like a spa. Each to their own, but I liked the character and having one broken tile in the corner of a bathroom didn't effect our stay.
Would 100% reccomend and we will be back

An hotel in decline
The rooms are large and the bedding is good (although one pillow case belonged to MGM hotels).
The large restaurant in the hotel is only used for breakfast. Dinner is served in a single storey new addition across the car park.
Breakfast was another low point. I have never before left anything when served with a full English. The sausage and bacon were burnt.

Friendly staff and dinner and breakfast was good.
Plenty of parking available.
Negatives for me were the elevator being out of action and although it just 2 floors I found it difficult to get upstairs with my suitcase.
Also outdoor furniture and area was a little tired.
These details wouldn’t stop me from staying again.
