Gorgeous farm stay

We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely farm located at Foz do Sabor right on the banks of the Douro River. The house is surrounded by grape vines, olive and orange trees and there are lovely views of the Douro River and Valley. Our hostess Gilda was really friendly and generous - she recommended an excellent restaurant in the nearby town of Torre de Moncorvo, and served us a wonderful breakfast which included several homemade products - jams and salami.

Amazing place for peaceful break in the Douro Valley

Positives:
- Beautiful river views, surrounded by vines and olive and orange trees. 200 meters away from the river beach (Foz do Sabor) where you can relax, have a picnic, sunbath, read a book, swim in the river (if you're brave enough to face the cold waters of Douro!). It's also in a very good position to explore the region. It is 10m drive to Pocinho train station (the terminal station of the Douro railway line) and Torre de Moncorvo, 20m to Vila Nova de Foz Côa (Archaeological site) and about 40m away from Freixo de Espada à Cinta (where you can visit the stunning Colado and Penedo Durão viewpoints and the Congida beach).
- Only 4 rooms. Ours was spacious (not huge, though) with a large and very confortable bed, an excellent shower and a large terrace overlooking the Douro river. Everything looked brand new and was very clean. The house has a living room, a dining room, and a kitchen for common use by the guests.
The owner prepared breakfast herself, consisting of delicious local products.
- Free wifi.
- Very nice and helpful owners. You will feel at home.
Negative (the one and only): there's just a small café in the village. However, there are pleanty of restaurantes in Torre de Moncorvo and Vila Nova de Foz Coa (10-20m drive).

Wonderfull people plus amazing view

The house is amazing with a great view for the river. The breakfeast is amazing. Home cooking and fresh fruit. The owners go out of their way to be helpfull. The rooms are spacious, clean and well designed. You can, in the summer book a tour with the owner, whom being a fisherman knows the river very well. The house is five stars, the owners make it a six star stay. Recomend it to anyone visiting the region. Their english is very basic.

Superb accommodation in peaceful location with excellent cuisine

If you are travelling up the river Douro, anywhere near Foz Do Sabor book a night or more at this Casa/hotel. Ideally situated just outside this little village in its own vineyard. The accommodation is fully five stars but what makes it truly special is the food they supply and their friendliness. We had one of the best BBQ's I can remember served during a power cut - full marks for their ability to improvise. All fresh meat and vegetables and massive helpings so probably best if you have hiked or cycled here to do it full justice! It has terraces and large sitting rooms and a full kitchen but why would you use this except for making tea or coffee when their dinner and breakfast is so good?

A great B&B in the beautiful Douro valley - A place to find peace

(See below for English) Uma pequena vivenda, bem localizada numa tranquila curva do rio Douro, junto à Foz do Sabor (perto da praia fluvial e parque de merendas). Excelentes vistas, e paz. Os proprietários, super-simpáticos, asseguram o serviço: a que horas quer o pequeno almoço? Este é variado e de grande qualidade, desde o sumo feito com laranjas acabadas de apanhar no pomar da propriedade aos doces caseiros (cinco!), pão, queijo, manteiga, presunto, bolos, café, leite, chá... Pequeno e acolhedor, muito limpo, os proprietários tudo fizeram para que nos sentíssemos bem e aproveitássemos ao máximo. O preço foi razoável. Definitivamente uma experiência a repetir! Use o Google Maps para descobrir o local.
A small house located in front of a tranquil bend of the Douro river, close to the Sabor river's mouth (near the rivear beach and picknik area), enjoys excellent views and is a peaceful place. The owners are super nice and ensure all the service: at what time do you want breakfast? Breakfast is very good, from the jiuce freshly squeazed from the orchard's oranges, to the home made preserves (five varieties!), bread, cheese, butter, prosciutto, cakes, coffee, milk, tea... Small and charming, very clean, the owners did everything in their power to make us feel good and enjoy to the uttmost. The price was quite reasonable. Definitly and experience to reliver! Use Google Maps to find the location.
