Beyond dirty - to avoid
I rarely leave such a negative review, but my experience at this hotel was absolutely terrible, and I feel it’s crucial to share my story so that others don’t end up in the same situation.
I stayed here last month, and it was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. I’ll break down everything that went wrong so that you know what to expect if you decide to book here.
First of all, the cleanliness was absolutely shocking. On the very first night, I could barely sleep because the room was covered in dust. There was so much visible dust floating in the air as soon as I turned on the lights. I had previously informed the hotel about my allergies and asthma and specifically requested that the room be cleaned carefully, but that request was clearly ignored. I could barely breathe, and it felt unsafe to even be in the room.
To make matters worse, when I tried to make myself a coffee around 2 a.m., the coffee machine in the room was filthy, full of old coffee residue. I went down to the reception to use the machine there, but that one was even worse—it had dead mosquitoes inside, and the cups were dirty. I showed this to the staff and explained the situation, hoping they would clean the room. I also reached out to them through both Booking and WhatsApp to address the issues, but nothing changed.
Later that day, I tried to snack on some nuts I had brought with me, only to discover they were expired. I messaged the hotel again, but still, no one came to clean the room. I had been out from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. that day, and when I returned, the room was still dirty. The staff claimed that I had left a “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door, which was a lie. There was no sign on the door, and they had plenty of time to clean while I was gone.
When I insisted that I would file a complaint with Booking, things only got worse. That evening, I found a fake plastic nail on the floor next to the bed, dead mosquitoes on the ceiling, and pillows that smelled like dust. The shower barely worked, and there was no protection from mosquitoes—no nets on the windows, no repellent devices. It was a nightmare.
Breakfast, which they offer as a courtesy, was another disaster. I found fruit with a hair in it, and the smell at the reception was absolutely awful. The whole hotel was covered in dust, and I had to take antihistamines and asthma medication just to survive my stay.
On top of everything, I had a flight delay, so I stayed one day less than originally planned. When I asked for a late check-out (just until 1 p.m.), they refused. Even though I hadn’t used the room for the full time I booked and considering the terrible conditions, there was absolutely no flexibility or goodwill from the staff.
And to make it even worse, despite all the issues I faced, I was still charged for drinks like Coca-Cola and water. The entire experience was a complete disaster from start to finish.
I would strongly advise anyone considering this hotel to look elsewhere. It’s dirty, uncomfortable, and unsafe, with terrible service. I honestly don’t want anyone else to waste their time and money here.
Avoid this hotel at all costs.

10/10 Hotel in CDMX.. solo, friends, or with family!
First off thank you to Renata, Diana, Juan Jose, Jorge, and Rosalba. The staff here are top tier 10/10 experience. They are so kind and very helpful. Their professionalism made it feel like a home away from home, and very safe. I came with my mother and we both loved the property and staff. The location in Condesa was perfect for my first time in CMDX. We were in the presidential suit and let me say, the pictures are exactly what you get in person. Which to someone who is very type A about getting what you pay for, this was perfect. The 2 bedroom 2 bath unit was amazing, bright, and spacious. Great touch was the continental breakfast on the roof top. The young lady that tended to the breakfast was great, you can really tell that she cares about her job. Would highly recommend this hotel brand and specifically this location. Looking forward to retuning on my next trip back to Mexico City.

lots of restaurants/cafes in the neighborhood, great parks. DO NOT book rides through the hotel!!!! The ride they booked for me from the airport was three times more than the Uber my friend took at the same time.

Five-star hotel and staff in a five-star neighborhood
The Amsterdam was an excellent hotel with a friendly, professional staff. Our two-bed, two-bath room with kitchen was clean and comfortable. They have a fitness room and a lovely rooftop where they serve a continental breakfast with plenty of tables and chairs to just hang out for a drink. They even showed the Super Bowl on a big screen for us. Its La Condesa neighborhood location is perfect with its non-stop shade trees along the oval ‘hippodrome’ where you find excellent restaurants and shops. There’s even a very convenient Walmart Grocery around the corner. The Amsterdam had it all. I will stay there on my next visit to Mexico City.
