Excellent and free hotel snow park

My family visited the Blue Ridge Hotel in a morning in late December. We did not accommodate in the hotel but using its excellent snow park. My kids (aged 8 and 6) wanted to play snow and have snowboarding. I learnt from the hotel website that it had a snow park charging a lower fee (than nearby ski areas in Kannabe). So we used it. It was a sloping area immediately behind the hotel building. The reception staff greeted us warmly and provided two sets of snowboards and spade freely to my children. It happened that the left part of the snow park was free! The right part required a charge 1000 yen and allowed kids skiing, and we did not use it. We found that the snow park was indeed quite big to us and covered with fresh and powder-like natural snow (about 25-30 cm thick; the northern part of Hyogo Prefecture snowed continuously in the last few days of December). My children played happily there for almost 1.5 hours. The slope was steep and long enough for children’s snowboarding. I also used the hotel car park for free. To us this snow park was much better (in terms of size, and snow quality) than those paid ones in Osaka and northern Kobe. As I observed, the Blue Ridge Hotel offers fine western rooms, onsen facilities, and buffet meals. The attachment of a fine snow park is another advantage of the hotel. I strongly recommend it to families with kids who visit the Kannabe region in winter time. Here I would also like to thank the generous hotel staff.

The room is very smelly and quite old

The staff are nice, however, after entering the room it’s quite terrible due to smelly and very humid. Besides, you can’t find the outlet plug for your electric devices.
There are many spots needed to be improved, because all the food for breakfast everyday is the same. There is not much choices and only very few vegetables. The food quality is just fair.
If any other hotel choices I definitely won’t choose this one.

Great comfort in the peaceful countryside!

The Blue Ridge is a perfect hotel for those that was to escape the city life or see the more rural side to Japan, all while enjoying the comforts and amenities of an upscale hotel! We went in February for a chance to enjoy the local ski resorts and couldn't have been more impressed by the staff and the service provided by the hotel! They warmly greeted up and check-in was easy (the clerk spoke perfect English). The hotel has a classy rustic look that is definitely an upgrade from a traditional ski lodge. The buffet provided a wonderful spread of local specialties, along side the traditional Japanese style buffet options, for both dinner and breakfast! The surrounding area is very peaceful

Comfortable and Relaxing Hotel

This hotel is located away from the cities and is ideal for people trying to get away for the weekend. The hotel itself is nice and grand for the area so it felt comfortable. For the room, it was decently spacious for Japanese hotel room and had all the necessities. The hot spring was also decent and clean with a somewhat nice view of the forest. As for staff, the front desk was a little unprepared to handle English tourists and was not able to communicate well, however the other staff around the hotel were all very warm and tried hard to make you feel comfortable. From what it seems, this hotel is best to stay during winter for the proximity to the ski slopes, but it is a comfortable hotel throughout the year.

We stay there for our snowboard trip

We went there for our snowboard trip last year.
The front desk staff was very friendly. At one time, my wife was waiting at the lobby for us. The front desk offered her a cup of coffee to warm her up. She was very impressed.
The room size was generous. It was one of the largest which I have seen in Japan.
I will definitely come back when I visit the area next time.
