Nice, cleaned and close to train station and bus station. Loved it! Nice city lots to see. I spent 5 day here!

Disappointing and overproced

Our experience was very poor at this hostel. Staff were pleasant enough but chaotic and disorganised. Of the facilities promised, no cafe/bar available, vending machines are outside on the street, “lounge” is a landing with two armchairs, rooms are cramped and too small for 6 people with bags, the hostel feels hastily unfinished, probably to get ready for the rugby World Cup games- so they could overcharge 2x the normal price. More spent on fancy decor, key locks and light fittings than basic facilities. No shower so use the local onsens, which we knew about but still feels overpriced for this. Only one toilet as the other kept blocking. Private parties in the bar so external noise and food smells seeping in to the room until late. Location is good, that’s about the best thing going for it!

The staff were very friendly and flexible, especially with luggage storage and can communicate very well in English as well. The hostel is also very clean and has modern toilets. The location is conveniently close to many restaurants and hot spring places, so accessibility is great.
Feel free to chat with the staff, they are always happy to make good conversation!
