Gorgeous spot in a quiet part of Lake Como

Maria's B&B was a fantastic place to stay in Lake Como. We were keen to avoid the tourist traps and stay somewhere a bit more local, so Nobiallo was perfect. The town is quaint and charming, with a beautiful church with a great view. The house has been refurbished very nicely, with a large kitchen, big bedrooms and good bathrooms. The view from the rooms out to the lake was stunning, what a beautiful thing to wake up to.
It was a short walk to Menaggio for better transport links but we caught the bus to and from Nobiallo at the bus stop just two mins from the house. Maria was a perfect host, super friendly with some good recommendations for the area. We would love to stay again!

Very disapointed

We had booked 4 nights in this B&B which seemed splendid to us, paying a deposit of €400 (more than half the price of the reservation). Arriving in Menaggio on Saturday evening, we learned that our room was already rented. We find ourselves in a small village with all the hotels full. We ended up booking a more expensive Airbnb for two nights. We spend the last two nights at their place. They offer us breakfast and promise us compensation. Today, a month later, no sign of compensation despite reminders. Bottom line: a lot of stress and a big disappointment.

SCAM!

I booked and payed through internet, but upon arrival the owner explained that it was easier for her if I payed directly to her. She promised she would cancel my internet-payment. She did not. And she has not reimbusted me afterwards. She seemed so friendly so I was fooled!! Stay away!!!

Feeling part of the family in a luxury home with a beautiful view

A beautiful 1700 house refurbished with a very tasteful combination of old and new. The room had a fantastic open view onto the lake. It was clean, tidy and very tastefully furnished. The bathroom had a lovely thermostatic shower. The landlady was very friendly, helpful and thoughtful. She complied very well with my partner's dietary requirements, serving him varied breakfasts based on local produce. We particularly enjoyed the friendly conversations at breakfast in the spacious family kitchen where we felt welcome into her family. The landlord and landlady speak fluent English and are happy to answer all questions and suggest places to visit, attractions and restaurants. We liked also that Nobiallo, where the B&B is based, is a small and quiet village, about 15 minute-walk from central Menaggio where you wake up only to the sound of birdsong. We hope to visit again as it was a very enjoyable experience.

Mixed experience

On the plus side the house is beatifully renovated and the view of the lake from the windows is pretty. On the down side it is quite a walk into Menaggio (20 minutes?) and along a rather lonely path at night if you come back late. We found that if we moved our car then we lost our parking space and that was a problem when we stayed as it was August. There is no place to eat in Nobiallum itself.
During our stay the owners were absent, leaving our care to the lady who helped this season from Mauritius, that felt a little discouteous as we had been in email contact with them before the stay and they didnt mention this. Overall we felt that of the four places that we stayed during our visit to Lake Como this was the one that didnt quite match our expectations for the price charged.
