Take your Torajan adventure to the next level and stay in this exceptional Homestay
We arrived at Sulawesi Castle one night unexpectedly. We had booked somewhere that really didn't live up to its description and we decided to leave and seek better accommodation. We got a car to take us to Sulawesi Castle and we were immediately ushered in and made incredibly welcome- what's contrast!!! We spent 3 nights with Sarah at Sulawesi Castle and nothing was too much trouble. Sarah and her family are a delight. She is not only a fabulous hostess but she cooks delicious food- particularly her bread and jams. What a find! She honestly made our trip to Toraja so memorable. A huge thank you! Definitely stay here if you're thinking of visiting this fascinating area. FYI: sarah is also a guide!

A tranquil place to feel at home..Sulawesi Castle
I stayed at Sarah's Sulawesi Castle around Oct/Nov 2025.
Location:
Sulawesi Castle is set in the most perfect spot—quiet, scenic, and surrounded by beautiful natural views. Which insist that you stop, slow down and just breathe. Being from a city or a busy lifestyle like me - this is so important. The castle is close enough to everything you need like the town and local shops. Yet set back from the main street. The locals are all wonderful and friendly which ensure continued peaceful experience.
Check-in / Reception:
From the moment I started contacting Sarah. I knew this was going to be an amazing experience. She had everything organised, in hand and was extremely communicative. On arrival her team greeted me with warmth and kindness that instantly dissolved any travel fatigue or concerns. Her hospitality was genuine, thoughtful, and truly personal. She takes care of everything—right down to arranging a seamless airport transfer, which made my arrival effortless. Check-in was smooth, relaxed, and friendly, the kind of welcome that makes feel at home instantly. Throughout my stay, the staff and her family were always kind, approachable and cheerful. They remembered small details, always asked how I was doing, and made me feel like part of a family rather than a guest passing through.
Facilities:
The property is beautifully maintained and full of small touches that show how much care goes into running it. Everything—from the shared spaces to the outdoor areas—feels cared for, peaceful, and spotless. Breakfast quickly became one of my favourite moments of each day: warm, fresh bread straight out of the oven, paired with rich, fragrant coffee that made mornings a delight. There’s a comforting simplicity to everything at Sulawesi Castle—nothing overdone, nothing artificial, just thoughtful details and an inviting atmosphere. Whether you’re relaxing with a book, chatting with other guests, or simply taking in the culture- the space encourages you to slow down and unwind.
Room:
My room was exceptionally clean, bright, and comfortable, with plenty of space to settle in and feel at home. Everything was was meticulously fresh, tidy, and welcoming. The bed was comfortable and I had the most restful sleep each evening. But the real highlight was the view from my window: sweeping landscapes that shifted beautifully throughout the day. I often found myself pausing just to take it in while sipping a fresh local coffee from the kitchen. It’s rare to find a place where the room itself becomes part of the travel experience, but here it truly does.
WiFi:
The WiFi was good, stable, and available throughout the entire property, which was great for planning, messaging, or simply staying connected without relying on mobile data.
Sleep Quality:
Nights were peaceful, quiet, and deeply restful. The calm surrounding environment, combined with the comfortable bed, made it easy to recharge after a day of exploring or relaxing. Waking up to soft sounds of nature (and the odd chicken or two) and a beautiful morning view was a perfect way to start each day.
Overall:
Sulawesi Castle is more than just a place to stay—it’s a place you feel. It’s warm, intimate, and full of heart. The combination of its stunning location, comforting atmosphere, cleanliness, and the genuine kindness of Sarah her family make an experience that stays with you long after you leave. I already find myself missing the the breakfast, the friendly faces and the wonderful talks I had with everyone round the table. I felt part of the small family and community.
I would return in a heartbeat, and I cannot recommend it enough to anyone looking for an unforgettable stay in Sulawesi.

Amazing stay
Amazing experience with Sarah's guesthouse and lovely family. A deep dive into the beautiful Indonesian way of life. You will hardly find a better experience in Sulawesi. The food is fully homemade from farm to table, even the bread. We took a cooking class with Sarah that we can just recommand, her passion for good food, wisdom and energy are shining here ! Lovely stay in a friendly guesthouse

Simply wonderful stay
Sarah is absolutely wonderful and so is her family. I very much enjoyed my stay over here. The room was really nice, great balcony and the breakfast and dinners are extremely tasty. I'd definitely recommend you to stay here. Sarah also can guide you around so be sure to bring that up if you need it.
