Extremely nasty

Friendly staff, but very very dirty hotel. Bathroom moldy, cobwebs, stains in the sheets and hair everywhere. Rats walk through the ceiling and you can hear squeaks everywhere. We were moved to a deluxe room, which first had to be prepared with a toilet freshener spray. That room was as bad as the others.

Good place for backpackers

Better than I expected; my previous experience with LP hotels is they stop trying once they’re included in the travel guide. Simple but clean, and the only place I came across in Malang that seems catered for backpackers; even though I did not come across any other backpackers when I was there. The cafe on the top floor has nice views of Malang and tasty food. It’s conveniently located next to the Gunung Harta office for taking the bus to your next location and they have their own tour agency across the street to book tours to Bromo and Ijen. The street didn’t feel that safe to walk at night as there is no foot path and it’s badly lit - so take a taxi/ojek if heading out in the evening.

Typical backpacker

Typical backpacker in centre of town so easy to walk to see the sights.
Room was OK with standard shower /toilet setup.
The staff weren't the most helpful except the girl at the tourist desk trying to sell guided trips.
Average place but not too bad.
