Great, friendly remote hotel.

Quite a remote (obviously) and welcoming hotel which has separate accommodation wings (we were on Erika wing). We stayed one night before moving on to Tasiilaq. We were on a full board basis, so enjoyed two lunches, one dinner and one breakfast.
The food is very good quality, fish is super, as are the breads. Pukka teas available, a premium brand. Staff are all so friendly and welcoming. In fact the food here was the best and most consistent we had in Greenland.
The accommodation reminds me of good quality student accommodation, thus functional and stark. That said the rooms are a decent size, are warm and comfortable. Desk with chairs plus kettle. Please note no hangers but a rail and for me, horror of horrors no hair dryer . I didn't ask at reception to be fair so one may have been available. There is a wet room rather than a bath room. Water pressure good and plenty of hot water. Everywhere is clean.
Ask at the reception for walks. A few options in late May when there was still a fair amount of snow. Short walk into town via the cemetery.
If you are sensitive to light nights in the summer then I recommend bringing your eye mask as the curtains do not block out the light fully.
There is such a friendly atmosphere here.
I liked the wall paintings outside.

Really lovely visit

On my trip from Tasiilaq to Iceland I stayed here, first one night, but when my plane was moved it became 2.
The staff was incredibly kind and nice and made a træls situation like delayed home trip very pleasant.
Nice room and really good food, both morning and evening.
The view here is world-class
Yes, even far from the hotel at the airport in Iceland, I got the help of one from your staff

Hotel: The best, because it is the only one. Hotel manager: Moody colonial master 2.0

Five stars for...
...hotel room: good mattresses, good duvets, thick curtains, coffee, cocoa, and tea in the room, shampoo, etc., soft, clean towels
...view and location: breathtaking
...coffee, tea, water, and juice are available for free all day
...nice selection of souvenirs
Three stars for....
...the food. So far okay, but far from good, let alone sustainable
0 stars for...
...the dirt in the lobby, e.g., the hundreds of dead flies on the windowsill
...the clutter lying around, probably for some repair
...the unfriendly, moody Danish hotel manager, whose arrogant colonial master demeanor, from his manners to his sloppy clothing, was reason enough to turn back.
And the macaw that he is holding here - in Greenland!! - can only be pitied, like the staff.
As a guest, one gets the feeling of being an annoying burden that should leave as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, the only hotel.
Unrated...
Staff: reserved, possibly unmotivated, if not intimidated. The job opportunities in Kulusuk are indeed limited.

One of our bestest stays

Everything that had to go wrong on a holiday, went wrong on this one and yet it was one of our best holidays ever. And a lot of the credit for making it our best vacations goes to Jakob and his amazing team at Hotel Kulusuk.
Kulusuk wasn’t a part of our planned Greenland Itinerary. We went to Tasiilaq on a 8 days dog sled tour but thanks to a snowstorm, all flights got cancelled and we were stranded in Kulusuk for 6 days.
Jakob, the proprietor of Hotel Kulusuk, became a father figure for the 20-25 of us stranded there, ensuring we had the most awesome food, support of the warmest staff, becoming the go to person for all updates about the weather situation and flight updates (Air Greenland unfortunately were not responsive but Jakob more than made up for that, keeping us updated by coordinating with the airport authorities directly as well), helping us keep the necessary authorities updated about our visa situation, chilling around with guests at the end of the day at the bar as well - he was there for us all the time
When I was planning our Greenland trip, I was apprehensive about the food, since I do not eat sea food at all and am more of a vegetarian. The food served at Hotel Kulusuk was absolutely awesome - it was one of the best Vegetarian cuisine I ve had and my husband loved the non vegetarian cuisine served there as well - we are avid travellers and for us to find the food in a remote place like East Greenland so good speaks volumes about the chefs at Hotel Kulusuk.
The rooms were comfortable, wi fi connection was good despite the snow storm.
They had an array of jigsaw puzzles, scrabble boards, card games etc so though we were stranded we never got bored and it was fun going back to our childhood games
An added bonus for us was Hali, the doggie. Jakob allowed the guests to take Hali for a walk and we loved going and playing with her
We were stranded in Kulusuk for 6 days, we lost our passports and money in Iceland thereafter, our camera lens broke - so as I said this was one of our holidays were loads of things went wrong and yet we returned to India with some amazing memories, and Hotel Kulusuk - Jakob and his team had a huge role to play in making this a memorable trip despite all odds.

Good service and cosy surroundings. The food is top.

The cozy hotel and it is thanks to Jacob and the staff. Everyone is so cute, and they do what they can to make us feel welcome. The food is fantastic and the wine cellar offers the finest wines. The raw materials are of top quality and we are very satisfied. There are no words for how beautiful the view is beyond the frozen sea ice where the dog slides drive into the glaciers on the other side.
