CAPITALISES ON TOURISTS
Absolutely ridiculous….they shoot themselves in the foot!
They “milk it” on their position and views.
If you order what you wish, they try and upsell.
Also they don’t have a wine list, either ask the price first or don’t have any!! They charge 14€ for a small glass of house wine!
When I went to pay the bill, I was shocked! I ask how much a bottle of the wine cost, her reply was, “ we don’t sell it by the bottle!!!!”…..what a joke, what con artists!…..AVOID!

We very much regret that there must have been a gross misunderstanding here.
We are quite surprised and taken aback to receive such a harsh review, which does not correspond to the reality of what we offer nor to what we strive to provide.
We wholeheartedly offer honest and warm hospitality, as we believe is very clearly demonstrated in the large majority of reviews we have received over our 46 years of operation.
We never have and never will "capitalise on tourists" or "milk it". This is a celebrated establishment with a very long history.
We absolutely and categorically never try to upsell. We deeply love gastronomy and respect our patrons, as we do our heritage and ourselves, to resort to "cons". We always try to immerse our guests into everything that makes food and drink special in Greece, beyond the norm. Our absolute priority is for our patrons to enjoy their time in our establishment, not to upsell. Our suggestions come from a place of excitement, knowledge and love.
This review is actually offensive.
So we wish to address all the points in your review in detail and hope you will consider this information without prejudice.
You requested a specific Greek spirit. We offer three versions of it, including a limited and very rare release of this spirit.
You were asked which one out of the three you would like.
It was a simple question and not an effort to upsell at all. You chose the version you preferred and your server gladly served you the 7 star version as per your request, at the rate of 12 Euro you clearly read on our menu. There are absolutely no surprises when it comes to our rates.
In regards to wine, we do not offer house wine.
Every night we serve up to twelve labels of fine, bottled wine by the glass.
Our wine glass portions are at 130ml, i.e. over the global standard for wine served by the glass. Not a small glass of house wine at all.
It is different labels every few nights out of our cellar's collection of over one hundred labels, by highly regarded and globally recognised and awarded wineries from Greece and abroad.
Rates by the glass are very clearly demonstrated on our blackboards, where the wines of the day are advertised. Rates for the wines we offer by the glass range from 10 Euro per glass and can go up to 26 Euro per glass for super rare and limited vintages.
And we most certainly offer all our wines by the bottle too, at rates ranging from 45 Euro and up to 120 euro depending on the label, style of wine and vintage and can go up to over 400 Euro for rare Champagne vintages, magnums and jeroboams.
It is impossible that your server would have told you that we do not sell wine by the bottle, when our whole operation is wine centric. This is a wine bistro after all.
If you experienced any difficulty communicating with your server, you could have asked for another member of staff, our sommelier or the bistro manager and we would have most gladly assisted you effectively and warmly. Absolutely nothing is more important to us than the total satisfaction and happiness of our guests!
And this extends to any issue you might have had with your bill as well. Although we fail to understand why you would be shocked with your absolutely reasonable and fair bill, especially considering that you had read our drinks menu and chosen your drink, any issue or question about your wine would have been resolved in seconds.
With respect but at the same time with surprise and having taken offence at your comments, could you maybe have grossly misjudged us?

Today with a knot at our throats, we left the altana structure, at the center of the wonders.
Our room overlooked the blue doms, the famous blue domes
just arrived, Petro welcomes us, a very kind gentleman who takes charge of our suitcases and accompanies us in recepsion, where we are still welcomed with kindness and professionalism, we are offered a fresh juice.
is illustrated with a santorini map, recommending the best areas for beach clubs, and restaurants where to eat better
to the staff of altana we also entrusted the task of a car rental, also super professional and excellent.
the rooms are cared for in detail and the cleanliness is really manic and I want to thank once again the two cute ladies who take care of it.
breakfast is delivered directly to the veranda, previously provided us with a questionnaire, with our breakfast preferences ..
once again I recommend the altana structure and a thank you to all the staff, for making our stay, a dream...!!!!!

Relaxing wonderful stay
Santorini is absolutely gorgeous, and this hotel couldn’t be better located. The views were breathtaking, the room was charming, and the staff and service were truly fantastic. Every interaction was warm and helpful, which made an already beautiful stay even more special. Highly recommend.
I traveled with my 16 year old daughter, and it was perfect for us, but Altana and Santorini in general is made for couples.
