It was not bad to stay here, would recomnd, as i saw other people commenting, “don’t act up on an empty stomach”.

The owner has favorite people so it may like you more or less but its fine if it doesnt bother you, rooms clean, the cleaning lady comes every 3 days and she forgot to give us toilet paper but it was fine because we asked the owner for some, we didnt need any ac in the night because the temperatures we’re fine, pool was open from 09:00-19:00, I saw the owners son cleaning it almost daily at 8:00 or something like that. Was ok.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS -APARTMENTS FROM HELL! RUDE OWNER!

Me and my boyfriend had an absolutely awful stay at John Mary Apartments. We were told on arrival that we were being “upgraded” to a suite across the road. Naturally, we were excited — until we realised the “suite” was just a basic apartment, nothing like the ones advertised. Misleading from the very start.
We weren’t allowed to use the pool at the suites (despite supposedly being “upgraded” to them) and had to walk back across the road every time to use the shared pool, which i never saw be cleaned once! Total bait and switch.
The apartment itself was an absolute disaster:
The air conditioning stopped working after the first night. It constantly tripped the fuse and we were told to just keep flipping it back on ourselves. We paid €50 for the week for air con that barely worked — totally unacceptable.
The air con unit also leaked, and since the drain didn’t work, our balcony was flooded 24/7.
Even worse, there were exposed wires out on the balcony — a clear electrocution hazard, especially with the standing water.
The room was only “cleaned” once during our stay — floors were still dirty, stove/hob was grimy, and the kettle was full of limescale.
None of the windows opened — not even in the bathroom, making the apartment stuffy and uncomfortable.
Our front door didn’t close properly, and neither did the balcony doors lock. We had to keep all shutters down constantly just to feel safe.
The electric buttons for the shutters in the bedroom didn’t work, so we had to manually pull them up and down.
We asked the owner for a different room because of all these issues, and he told us he was fully booked. However, when we checked Booking.com that same day, there was availability showing for that week. So he clearly lied to us.
Even worse — we moved out on the third morning because we simply couldn’t take it anymore. We paid out of pocket to stay elsewhere for the remaining 5 days of our holiday. After we left, he had a new air con unit fitted in the apartment and tried to claim it was fixed the day before. That’s another lie — we were in the room the entire previous day and it was the same broken unit.
We genuinely tried to be reasonable with him, but he fed us nothing but excuses and dishonesty. The way I (as a young female) was spoken to — rude, aggressive, and completely dismissive — was downright intimidating.
Where we stayed is not what we paid nearly £800 for, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. The owner picks favourites, lies to guests, and has no care for your comfort, safety, or experience.
Avoid John Mary Apartments at all costs. You’ll regret booking here

Perfect

We have visited Gouves many times but not these apartments which were recommended by a friend. After reading recent reviews we were a little sceptical. Don’t be put off these apartments are fantastic. Largest apartment we’ve ever had, lounge with 2 sofas, table/chairs, kitchen, bathroom with bath and shower, large bedroom and balcony. The owners couldn’t do enough for us, really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The apartment was really clean with new linen and towels every 3 days. Pool area again really clean. Perfect location a minutes walk to the seafront. We will definitely be back.

Basic but would return

Just returned last week from a weeks stay at John Mary Apartments. The family were very friendly and helpful. We were put in an apartment in the suites side but would’ve preferred to be on the pool side.
Rooms are basic but clean.
Excellent location, right over the road from the sea with Anfield Bar and shop just round the corner.

Holidays at the top

Following a last minute cancellation from Last Minute we ended up at John & Mary Apartment. They did everything to satisfy us and that we had a very good holiday. We thank them for their kindness
