An ideal place, warm

We were lucky to come across Isabelle's dhotes room in Ardres from 3 to 4 Sept.The room was very clean as well as the bathroom, the beds very comfortable.
We enjoyed the Quiet and Welcoming Isabelle, after 600km drive, it was an ideal place: quiet and welcoming. Isabelle told us about the place and explained how to go see the lake. It was fun to meet the 3 tame hens and to know the life of his gallinaces. We enjoyed the hearty breakfast.
Someplace we'll go back.
It's not a place we get to and we need a code to find the key. Human contact is irreplaceable.

Charming place
Well located off the road with access to the lake. Carport.
Independent accommodation. Towels provided.
Very warm welcome, fabulous breakfast, diversity every day, homemade jams

Great stay

Breakfast was nice, authentic and personalized. Isabel is very friendly. She speaks English reasonably well. Some people in the village do, most of them don't! Bakeries were excellent! Watch for their siesta; some shops close around lunch time only to open after 2 pm!

Two fabulous days in this beautiful region.

We just spent two wonderful days in this wonderful guest house located in the heart of the town of Ardres in the Pas-de-Calais. We received an exceptionally warm and very friendly welcome from the mistress. The room we occupied was absolutely perfect in every way and full of charm. The park surrounding the house is beautiful and very bucolic. The breakfasts are very rich and varied with a nice surprise every morning.Madame Vercknocke who received us is a person full of kindness and good mood and was very available to us.
Au Retour du Lac is a superb guest house that we highly recommend after spending two dream days there.

Poor handling of request, extremely rude host.

Host was extremely rude when I had to make a cancellation of the booking. I tried multiple times with my insurance before contacting the host and it was genuinely saddening how obtuse and eager to dismiss the request saying it’s not their problem. This forced me to drive an additional 500 miles on top of a 1000 mile drive.
