A memorable one night stand

Bride and I were visiting Tasmania 46 years after our wedding. We booked a one night stay at Ellie's Cottages at beautiful Stanley. The cottage was very comfortable and Ellie lef no stone unturned with the preparation of our room. A fruit bowl, some chocolates quality teas and coffee to mention just a few.
The unit had a TV, DVD player and a selection of movies and books for those who like to read and a comfortable queen size bed. Parking was right next to the cottage.
The Stanley Hotel was just across the road and provided a delightful meal at a reasonable price.
Highley recommended and thanks to Ellie for a wonderful little gem in the heart of Stanley.

Cancellation due to medical reasons

I am extremely disappointed with how our situation was handled.
We had booked a stay and were forced to cancel due to a genuine medical emergency involving my partner, which resulted in hospitalisation. This was not a change of mind or a matter of personal preference – it was an unforeseen circumstance completely outside of our control.
While the business offered a credit, we were then advised that to use that credit we would need to pay an additional $300 on top of the $610 already paid in order to stay for two nights before the end of August. In practical terms, this means paying significantly more money despite being unable to attend because of a medical emergency.
I understand businesses have cancellation policies, but I had hoped some discretion, compassion and common sense would be applied given the circumstances. The response left me feeling that the policy was valued more highly than the wellbeing of customers experiencing genuine hardship.
I am sharing this experience so that others are aware of what to expect should they find themselves facing an unexpected medical emergency before their booking.
This was a very disappointing outcome and not the level of customer care I had hoped for.

A lovely cottage in a perfect location

I stayed in the Studio at Ellie’s cottages for 3 nights. A perfect location in the centre of town. Very quiet and very comfortable. Everything you needed and everything you didn’t know you needed were provided. Ellie was very accommodating of a late checkout

Excellent location

A very comfortable cottage right in the middle of town. When we arrived we were welcomed with lots of little comforting extras (No spoilers).
Spotlessly clean. Roomy. Lots of books and magazines.
The only disadvantage was no window to the view of the Bay however there was a view of the Nut. It really didn’t matter as we spent more time out of the cottage than inside.
The location was close to everything- restaurants, beaches, heritage walk, and the village as a whole.
Good parking. Thoroughly recommended

Absolutely Fabulous

We stayed at both the cottage & studio (Family of 4) which are adjoining. Ellie was so welcoming and there is everything you could ever wish for and more, she has thought of everything. It was so cosy and homely right in the centre of town. Lovely breakfast of fruit, yoghurt, toast, spreads, juice. There was a power outage in the town while we were there and Bernie brought us a thermas of boiling water to make a cuppa while waiting for power to return, now that's good service! Highly recommended if staying in Stanley.
